3 Bowling Techniques to Make a Strike or Spare
Written by aiwis on April 1, 2008 – 11:18 am -3 Bowling Techniques to Make a Strike or Spare
It is a strike, when all of the pins are knocked down “on the first ball of a frame.”
Every bowler would like to hit a strike and score big to win with this action, but it is not merely a stroke of luck. Bowlers who want to make it big by hitting strikes more often than not have to work at it.
Like in any sport, great action comes in small packages, where the attention is focused on the techniques learned and used by that player. It is important for every player to know how to hone his or her skills to win the game.
So for those who wish to make a strike or a spare in order to win a match, here are three bowling techniques that they can use:
1. Spinner
This technique refers to the way of delivering a shot with the intention that no more than a minor part of the ball touches contacts the lane. This technique promotes less friction between the ball and the lane, not considering the “oiling pattern” of that lane. As a result the ball glides practically in a straight line down the lane.
Experts contend, however, that this kind of shot is not very successful in that it does not attempt to take full advantage of the dragging the power of the bowler.
2. Stroker
With this kind of technique, the bowler relies more on precision than strength. This technique is characterized by employing the “by the book” style of playing that entails the proper execution of even movements, keeping square shoulders to the target all the way through the release of the ball, and maintaining an on-time move at the “foul line.”
This is the “classic” technique of most bowlers because it employs smooth and controlled movements and lessens the possibility of injuries.
3. Cranker
This is the kind of technique that is being employed by a bowler who relies more on his strength to deliver a good shot rather than accuracy. It is like ‘hitting hard’ when a bowler uses this technique.
The skill involves more adrenaline that constitutes the bowler’s drive to win.
Usually, crankers use “late timing”, they do not slide, attempt to get to the “foul line” earlier than the ball, and they bend their elbows to keep their hands at the back and beneath the ball.
There are no perfect techniques, but there is a particular technique for every player. The important thing is to create a strike or even a spare.

Different Types of Guitars
Written by aiwis on March 27, 2008 – 11:07 am -Different Types of Guitars
The guitar is one of the most popular musical instruments, and it has earned a world-wide fame throughout the decades for its melodious sound and tone. These amazing instruments are found in a wide variety of sound quality, playability, and in terms of overall appearance. There are different types of guitars, each of which are chosen depending on certain factors and convenience of the professional guitarist, or the aspiring guitar players.
The first major variety in the list of the many types of guitar includes the Acoustic guitar. There are scores of guitars under the brand Acoustic, varying widely from one another. An acoustic guitar is made of a wooden structure, fixed with a soundboard, and it is free from any external inclusion. The sound emerging from this category of guitars is generally softer than the other instruments included in the orchestra bands. However, they can be accordingly amplified and modified with the needs and requirements of the musician or that of the band. There is, again, a broader variety of these acoustics that include classical and flamenco guitars, steel string guitars, and many more to be discussed. The category extends to both amplified and non-amplified guitars that are used in the different registers, such as the acoustic bass guitar.
Designed exclusively for the execution of a solo polyphonic melody, the magical guitar produces music similar to that of a pianoforte. The finely placed nylon strings on the guitar sound melodious with any music, from jazz to classical. The modern forms of classical guitars were pioneered by Antonio Torres Jurado. There is a roster of classical guitars classified distinctively according to their functions and usages. These include the tiny requinto, the larger guitarron, and many more. The requinto is a well-famed type, found mostly in the Latin-American nations as an associated part of the guitar family.
There are also the more reformed and simplified versions of the classical guitars. The Renaissance and Baroque guitars are smaller in size and are comprised of only four to five courses of strings attached to it. Often used in an ensemble for rhythmic purposes, these two types are quite common in musical performances. While the Renaissance guitar is comparatively simple and plain, the Baroque guitar comes highly embellished in the on its entire structure including the neck and body.
Included among the many other guitar types are the Portuguese guitars, the twelve-string guitars, which are exclusively meant for their traditional Fado song, the Archtop guitars, the Flat-top (steel-string) guitars, the traditional seven-string Russian guitars with an open G major tuning, Acoustic bass guitars, Tenor guitars, Harp guitars, the smaller Guitar battente, extended-range guitars, and the resonator, resophonic, or Dobro guitars.
The electric guitars have become one of the most common and significantly used instruments in any musical ensemble or performance. These guitars basically use electronic pick-ups to amplify the sound and vibration of the strings. They come in a solid or semi-solid structure, and do not use much of the body structure to produce sound. They use amplifiers to produce the maximum amount of sound that is emitted from the instrument.

Bowling Lessons for Intermediate Techniques
Written by aiwis on March 26, 2008 – 12:01 pm -Bowling Lessons for Intermediate Techniques
Everybody loves bowling. It is the game where a person can experience fun and excitement. The game is played by aiming and rolling the ball down a lane in an attempt to knock down all the pins standing at the other end of the lane (target). When the attempt was good enough to knock down all the pins that is when it is called a strike.
If there are pins left standing and they are knocked down with another roll of the ball, he made is a spare. Most beginners tend to make a low score because their attempts railed on the lane and did not knock down any pins.
As a beginner, it is important to first have lessons to learn the intermediate techniques.
1. A person must know how to be comfortable in swinging and releasing the ball. He must know how to relax and take a deep breath for a more focused attempt. This is a technique that will help execute a free flowing arm swing.
2. He must avoid an early drop of the ball by having a good grip on the ball, although it is not advisable to make a tight grip, because he may not create a spin or a smooth release of the ball. He should be comfortable with the ball in his hand to create a more decisive swing and releasing movement.
3. If the attempts are always spares – or less, he may change his starting position by giving a slight angle to his previous starting position. This could help him lessen the number of pins he is missing. He must know how to adjust his shots to make to improve.
4. The timing is important in making an attempt. There has to be good coordination between mind and the body. To make a good score, he must learn how perfect timing in the swing and release will improve delivery of the ball.
5. He needs to be patient in practicing how to convert spares. He must take some time and learn how to aim the release. He should remember how his change of timing has affected his attempts. If there are positive results, he may want to continue the process that he is doing.
A person must realize that bowling also requires creativity. To be very good at this game requires mental conditioning. What matters most is continuing to try to improve the game.

Is Airsoft Better Than Paintball
Written by aiwis on March 24, 2008 – 8:41 am -Is Airsoft Better Than Paintball?
This question is bound to stir debate and controversy amongst the most ardent of airsoft or paintball fans.
Both airsoft and paintball are both hobbies based on replica firearms and wargames. Is this unhealthy? That depends moreso on the person themselves rather than the hobby. An interest in pursuing a hobby that involves weaponry only becomes unhealthy if taken to extremes - which is true of most things in life. Paintball and airsoft are not morbid hobbies and only run the risk of being dangerous when participated in by dangerous people.
Paintball itself is a more mobile sport. It requires a certain level of physical fitness, mobility and skill - if you paintball then you gotta be able to move fast. The weapons themselves are functional and are only designed to serve the purpose of the sport as opposed to looking good. Paintball rifles are designed to take a real beating when it comes to their use. Paintball fans fall into the ‘extreme sport’ category and enjoy the pure adrenaline of each paintball match and are driven by the desire to win.
Airsoft is a somewhat different sport. The guns used in airsoft are both conversation pieces and are also functional sports ‘weapons’. Airsoft rifles and pistols are capable of firing both small plastic pellets and paint filled pellets so are useful both in the sport itself and also for backyard target practice.
The major difference is the power of the guns themselves. Paintball guns are driven by high powered gas cylinders whereas airsoft guns fire projectiles either through springs, electronic firing mechanisms or with compressed gas. The issue is that most airsoft guns lack the range and accuracy of the larger paintball guns simply because they were never designed with long range fire in mind.
Conversely airsoft guns are available in a huge range of styles and models. Everything from a Glock handgun to a sniper rifle to a CAR15 assault rifle. Airsoft guns are equally at home hanging in your livingroom or at use on the airsoft playing field. You can even go as far as buying an airsoft minigun. Many airsoft fans simply collect the guns and never get involved in airsoft wargames at all. This is the much the same as many sword collectors - they display the weapons at home but don’t go running around waving them at people.
The truth is that neither airsoft nor paintball is superior. They’re both a case of personal preference. If you’re the extreme sports type then paintball will suit you more. If you’re more of a collector then airsoft will be more you thing.
Regardless of whether you’re a paintball fan or an airsoft fan it’s essential to take proper safety precautions when using these guns. Proper eye protection in the form of safety goggles should always be worn and suitable protective clothing to cover your neck and upper torso should also be worn. Even though some people see these as guns as toys they are capable of causing injury either through accident or even deliberate malice.
